My 87 Cherokee rebuild is pretty dang nice. It a great little toy! A little noisy on the freeway with the leaky triangle window vents but its fun to drive every once in a while.

this was my first Jeep…1987 4.0…it had the power/comfort switch and had an “all-time 4 wheel drive” selection…blew the head gasket and sold it for 200$…dude fixed it and is still driving it…i miss it…has over 450,000 miles on it now
@moparsrock its funny u say that, my 1990 Cherokee has many AMC parts under the hood, radiator hoses,air box,theres also many other parts from other car manufactures on it, not to mention the fact that the registration says American as vehicle make
@MrTwinsrule I discoverd this a few min ago…………..In September 1997 all of AMC and Renault were renamed “Eagle”. Yes! American Motors became the Jeep/Eagle division of Chrysler. Chrysler was obliged to buy parts from Renault for a couple of years and make cars out of them. So….We both are correct!
Chrysler made the 88 jeeps like you stated BUT out of AMC/Renault parts like I stated.

The oil filter for the Chrysler engines will not work on the 88 jeep either.I guess I just do not know what I am talking about?

@DieselFreak94 XJ’s are the best they’re bulletproff! I always thought i wanted a ZJ or WJ till recently, and XJ’s have SO many aftermarket parts. I’m 17 and have a camaro iroc-z and a grand prix, and i want to add an XJ to my car collection I am going to get one soon i am so excited! I just need to work a few months so i’ll have enough money

I have a 1987 Jeep Cherokee Pioneer 4.0 with 328,000 miles as of 10/23/2011 still going strong without an overhaul.
