My thoughts on the new Toyota commercial feat. Hatsune Miku
Sorry for the horrible audio, my notebook has a horrible mic. I did my best to clean it up. If you can't tell what I'm saying, here was the script: Hello everyone and welcome. Now before I get started, YES, this is a rage video. So all you trolls who want to make comments about being butthurt or a fucking weeaboo can GTFO now. Thanks. Now on to the main matter at hand. This video is to voice my own opinions on the newly released toyota commercial starring Hatsune Miku as the character promoting the 2011 Toyota Corolla. For those of you who don't know, Hatsune Miku is a voice in a program known as "vocaloid" created by Yamaha and Crypton. Vocaloid allows you to have the program "sing" for you simply by typing out lyrics and melody, allowing unparalleled realism. Miku herself was "born" as I should say on September 1st, 2007 in japan. Her software box featured cute illustrative art of her character, and a catchy high range voice. Hatsune Miku became an instant hit overnight. Since her release over 3 years ago, there has been an endless supply of music, illustrative artwork, music videos, and even merchandise such as figurines. She has become a massive idol and an inspiration to many artists in japan. She has a massive fanbase on a global scale. I discovered Miku myself in late 2007, and I've been enjoying many of the creative artworks ever since. Now that you are familiar with who she is, now we can talk about the more pressing matter at hand. A short while ago it was ...

Lol, the thing that bugged me the most was the way they said her name in the commercial
“HAT-su-ne” XD I fell out my chair in pain. I agreed with the poor music choice. Sure World is Mine is a Miku original and symbolically the songs title does have meaning to the commercial; “Miku is starting to gain a place in the world, the World is her’s”; however, perhaps a more…clearer song would have been better. Perhaps Packaged or something not as… “AHHHHHHHHHH”-y, if you catch my drift…

I agree with you on this, but I must admit that I never gave this much thought until this video… ^_^

I totally agree, I learned about Miku a couple months back and when I found out I just went up and down. I was like OMFG AWESOME! Then I saw the video….. I was like “Hey that doesn’t look like Miku.” Then I heard her voice… “What the heck is it like that for?” Also, why a car commercial? Then she screams high pitched and I basically fell out of my chair because of my headset.

@mitsy17 i have to agree with u bro. (because im not asian and and not from america)

@mitsy17
They did the same thing with Sonic back in 1991, but that kind of thing wont work today with the internet. >__>
And as I said before, Toyota was the official sponsor of the Mikunopolis Concert at Anime Expo 2011 (which I attended!). So they do earn major props for that.
And they did learn from their mistake somewhat and changed the banner back in June.

Americans tend to always try to Americanize a foreign hit to ‘fit’ our society. I swear that corolla version looks more like a man. It’s sickening. Would it have killed them to use the original? It’s a disgrace really. Anywho toyota fails anyways. I lost respect for them.

I remember the first time I saw this on TV. I died when she screamed…

I think you’d give a “flying fuck” if you had something suddenly happen to your own PC, wouldn’t you?
Also, Hatsune Miku isn’t a “computer”, she is a Vocal Synthesis software used on a PC. And despite that fact, much of the music made using the said software is actually really good.
People will always have opinions, and there will always be haters. At least I made educated arguements based on facts. It seems you didn’t even watch the video, or do any sort of research yourself.

wow who gives a flying fuck its a fucking computer

@Animegirl7000 I totally get what your saying. I mean the original Miku was better. It was unmodified, original and she was naturally beautiful. But trying to ‘change’ her look, I don’t really like that idea. And the commercial portrayed her.. not herself.

-This is so true, the first time i introduced my friends to vocaloid, they didnt like it because of her high-pitched voice.
December 22nd, 2011 - 17:21
i think they tried to make her look more realistic which i totaly agree with u its makes no sense she sopost to look anime cartoon like they totaly fucked up the purpose…..
December 22nd, 2011 - 17:21
@LUCKY7403 It ticks me off that they think they can change the look of Miku just so that they like her. So are they going to go around fixing real peoples faces so that they like them to?
December 22nd, 2011 - 17:21
I think They wher trying to put little bit of ther design but fail
maybe next time they might get it right if they try to stick more to the original design
December 22nd, 2011 - 17:21
agreed, their ad with her on it..the way she was drawn just wasn’t right. it was totally wrong to do that, they shud’ve kept it the way it was in the first place-awesomely drawn 0w0

I very much agree with you, Her whole desighn had been changed, I never did like it at first glance. The modles from her tour and Dreamy theater seemed fine. They could have endorsed her my keeping it as original as possible, Since vocaloid (this is what I read in a magazine about a year ago) will come out with an english version in the late fall of 2011. This could only create more hype for her debute to North America.

If you look at the website again, it looks better than what you just showed us. I think you go your point
December 22nd, 2011 - 17:21
This is just horrible….. what a travesty…… How dare they use her like this!?
December 22nd, 2011 - 17:21
@CruelHearts63 Yeah the hot dog one is wtf, though the one where he adds a mustache is only funny because Miku gives the guy a well deserved leek smack.
December 22nd, 2011 - 17:21
your voice sounds clearly, maybe some speakers have trouble picking the sound
December 22nd, 2011 - 17:21
I agree entirely…
Hatsune Miku, you’re ruined! DX
December 22nd, 2011 - 17:21
I completely agree with you jrharbort-san. I was just watching one of the vocaloid concerts when I saw the announcements. SeyrenLK-san said that ALL of the tickets were sold out. Unfortunately this little asian girl was. Then I went to the TOYOTA’s youtube channel. I was like”Ok this is good” but when I saw the “miku” in ther channel I was like O .o WTF? they totally abused her kawaii-ness..she looks like a freaking alien..gomen but i don’t like to cuss much..as an otaku i state my opinion > . <
December 22nd, 2011 - 17:21
she looks like a dude >.<
