Eminem Chrysler Super Bowl Commercial, UPDATE
Eminem Chrysler Super Bowl Commercial, UPDATE Detroit — The Detroit Board of Education and the teachers union are exploring whether higher taxes and a longer school year could help stave off a drastic state-ordered plan to eliminate the district's 7 million deficit. On Monday, The Detroit News reported that state education officials have ordered DPS Emergency Financial Manager Robert Bobb to immediately implement a plan to close half the district's schools and increase high school class sizes to 60 students to erase the legacy deficit and balance its budget by 2014. Detroit Public Schools had 150000 students in 2003-04, according to the Michigan Department of Education. DPS had 87032 students in 2009-10. Bobb's plan projects that downward trend to fall to 58570 in 2014. @fridakb Great comments!! Thank you!! It’s not so much that I’m negative, it’s just that a major city can’t lose over 40 percent of its population and expect to survive. It’s a very very hard thing to do. But most importantly, like I said, all the Big Companies have left Detroit too!! I respect your comments!! They were all great points!!

more important then you think. maybe the commerical is missleading, but what are you expect them to say, detroit is down, and there is no hope? if the ppl have no hope it´s not gonna be better in the future. i have lived in the subrub of cape town, SA, took care orphans and there are ppl there that are more positive then you are, and i can see you actually have house to live in? what are you doing that are so great for the city?

is it strange that he don´t live in the city anymore, he do live outside of detroit or in Michigan at least? you do know that proof, his bestfriend where shot in detroit 2006. he is one of the most famous person today and if listen to his music he always says he lives in a bubble, he trapped in fam, he can´t go anywhere really. To say there is no hope in the future, don´t make it better. My country had no hope back in the days and now we have, things can change. The mentality of the people is

@fridakb I’m not angry at anyone or even you. People need to see the city for how it’s changed. There are no Big Companies in the city anymore.

@fridakb Detroits population is now at 700,000 people. Down from it’s peak in the late 1950′s and early 60′s of 1.2 million people. A city can not loose that much revenue and expect to come back. It’s just the truth of the matter.

@fridakb The only reason for the NAFTA agreement was to spur growth for companies, while at the same time cut payroll costs and increase profitability. It did just that, but the long term affects were unforeseen by the greedy business owners!! These high paying jobs, like in Detroit will never ever come back!! These jobs are over seas forever!! Chrysler took a bailout from the gov’t. Have they replaced any of these high paying jobs?? NO!!

@fridakb If he is truly from the city, why does he live in Rochester hills?? If you recall, the commercial clearly stated: “This is what we do” (in Det,) If you do some research, you’d find that only 60 percent of US cars are made in the US!! Chrysler was one of those companies in full favor of the NAFTA agreement in which took away jobs from Mich. and the country as a whole!! There is NO HOPE for these high paying jobs to EVER return to the US!! This video is full of misleading info!!

why do you hate so much on a commercial, it´s a commercial not a political speach and it´s trying to get people hope. people from all over the world see this commercial so it´s not only for people in detroit. and if you look at other stuff eminem says like in the home and home tour dvd (i think) he talk a lot of the situation in detroit. what is wrong with giving ppl hope, he did this commercial because it was “promoting” the city he´s from. he always adresses the problem in detroit, why hating?

Don’t let them get to you my friend. Some people just won’t see the truth before their eyes, and some resent it when they do.

@DigitalSkyline
Well said!

@DigitalSkyline And damnit please don’t tell me I’m being racist. I give love and respect where it is earned. That fact is the hatred and ignorance has consumed the Detroit culture and they see the destruction of white society as victory. If it means being shitty all of the time, living in the gutter, if it gets under your skin, they are going to do it. White people either act gangsta or get ran through. You know, you’re from here just like me. Everyone judging from the outside have no idea.

@DigitalSkyline Crime and dirty deeds is the culture of Detroit. The pride of Detroit is tearing down, not building up. If it’s not given, it’s taken, at any cost. The corruption is celebrated. The People were proud of gangsta mayor Kilpatrick, many would vote for him again today. They see it as sticking it to the white man. Ignoring the fact that whites are now the minority around this city. Now they proclaim we’re coming to the suburbs, and section 8 made it happen.

Detroit as you and I well know is beyond hope… this big lie that the motor city is anything less then a complete and utter failure is basically the American dream in a nutshell. America sells it’s lies to the world now, not “we the people”. We are the lost and forgotten. And the people of Detroit, I have much love for them and understand their plight but they are just as much to blame as America as a whole. Many of them LOVE living in the dirt. They act the part, as if it’s a point of pride.

Eminem regrets selling his soul for success. But there he goes again, selling out with that advert. Even insulting his hometown with the lie. There’s no hope for some people but DMX has turned to Christ.

You sound like a concerned MICHIGAN citizen to me! I forget where Eminem’s house is in Detroit? Oh ya that’s right he doesn’t live in DETROIT! He must be one of the pedophiles the gentlemen was referring too! Thanks for posting! Peace! .V,,
