Was Eminem ripped off by Audi?
To prove that Audi violated Eminem and Chrysler's intellectual property, I took the Chrysler commercial and the Audi commercial and swapped out the sound tracks. Do they look interchangeable? I think so. Do you? ~Mike

@Nerysgarcia22 Chrysler by about 5 months (approx)

which commercial was made first?
June 8th, 2011 - 07:37
@Riles07 Yes, I quickly switched the audio tracks. So the Chrysler video has the Audi audio and the Audi video has the Chrysler Audio. And I used both audio and video tracks nearly unaltered. I just adjusted an audio fadeout to fit for precise length. They were similar in length to begin with.
I think your questions reflects the point this is trying to make. Thanks.

just to clarify, the audio track from the first ad (the Chrysler ad) is actually synced with the Audi ad right? And vice versa?

That is a genuine rip off. They changed the tone of the song just enough to where people could say it’s different if anyone questioned but not enough to completely distort the song. But then again, Audi hasn’t exactly been a benchmark company for new or innovative cars/ideas so who would be surprised the most creative they could be is to steal someone elses idea?

I doubt copyright infringement could be proven; the music is probably different enough. The only argument that could be made would be to prove that the average listener would think that the Audi music was actually Eminem. But the ad biz shows once again that original ideas are few and far between.

I think Audi has made such advertising on purpose to get more attention in the press in US….not really stupid…

German Cars are the Best !!!!!!!!!!!!
June 8th, 2011 - 07:37
different music, and better car (audi) seig heil!
June 8th, 2011 - 07:37
Also if you listen to the original “Lose Yourself” there is a flanger effect used.
There is no way this case will hold up in Germany.

The guitar riff and snare beat are NOT EVEN THE SAME.
They sure sound similar, but listen very closely and you can tell there is a distinct difference.

Dats hands down a rip off. Im not an eminem fan i am a Juggalo but no one deserves gettin ripped off. AUDI BLOWS!!!

The Audi ad (and it is an ad) is a clear rip-off of eminem’s commercial and more importantly music. I’m not an eminem fan, but neither am I a fan of some fruity euro skidding around an abandoned warehouse listening to music copied from an American musician while driving a boring euro station wagon.

@padraig102 Thanks.

complete rip off, …..good vid

@you7jupp I never called the Audi footage a commercial. Maybe someone else did, but not me. Honestly I don’t care what the Audi clip was intended for. I chose my words carefully. This is a clear violation of the intellectual and artistic property of Eminem and the Chrysler corporation. It’s so similar, some people I have showed it to don’t even know the tracks were switched. Thanks for stopping by. ~Mike

“caught in a trap” someboby would call this. What are we all doing right here in that moment? We all jump on a bandwagon of the industrie , that´s rolling but needs us to keep it going on and on. First, who called the AUDI clip a commercial or an ad? Some moderators of webpages and some press people. This is the first trap, because it is´nt a commercial and it´s no ad. But by taking it to the internet WE ARE MAKING AN AD OUT OF THIS. Find out what the clip was made for and you will understand…

That track is clearly a bite.

2:01 is so shocking how similar the commercials are. It is almost exactly the same, but with different pictures.

Too much parity these days and now it has reached car commercials. Audi is obviously inspired by Chrysler. Eminem and Chrysler definitely has a case!
