Just discovered Garuda did fly direct to Indonesia from the UK in the past on Wikipedia. They stopped just after the 1997 Financial Crisis in Asia.

Pretty certain this is Tuesday 29th December 1992 – so Thames’ third last day on air.
The heavy concentration of partwork ads immediately after Christmas played a crucial role in the plot of the extraordinary ‘If You See God, Tell Him’, but I’m sure I’ve mentioned that before.
