1960 – Wonderful New World of Ford
A wonderful promotional video for Ford Motors' new cars in 1960: The Galaxy, The Thunderbird, and The Falcon. This ad is a great throwback to the early 1960s and JFK era of innocence. Featuring an empty field with just the three cars and a horde of men and women in their ballroom best, the ad is awash in kitschy elegance.

The music sounds very Disney-esque.

@4pointedstar I am 45. My grandfather was a former Stutz and Pierce – Arrow dealer. These cars were just modern day Ford Fiestas made longer wider and FATTER.

@jvarela965 You are just plain wrong. I would bet you are in your 20s, maybe 30s at most. I was there. These cars were extremely well made and highly rust resistant.

a new car back in the day was not only just another new car, it was a “dream car”, and the way they displayed them was corney, yes, but elegant and unoffensive. A hell of alot of effort went into adverts those days. Maybe just as much does these days too but it fails to show. Best example of ott ad for 50′s is Design for Dreaming.

Nice, I had a ’60 four door ford 292 CID 3 on the tree rubber mat , had no markings other than F O R D
Had a Skyliner, Sunliner, and a Galaxy too all with 352 automatics, By far the 292 was the fastest. had a Mercury 600 too, that had a in line 6 and was very quiet and smooth running and a Comet all in the span of 3 years, of course these were all used up cars, Oh I did have a ’59 convert too that one I managed to smash up I think it had a 352 3 on the tree = 3 speed shift
Thanks for the post

Ya cars back then got better gas…Falcons got like 30 mph..which is excellent for being a 50 year old car lol

I have a 1962 Ford Falcon…..and there is only a tiny rust hole in the door…and the rear quarter panels in the back are a little rusted..but besides that its a beautiful car….not all cars got rust holes…people need to wake up and take care of there valueables. which is why people drive plastic boxes today, cause it takes less energy to take care of them, i guess as the future goes…people get lazier to dealing with responsabillity…but yes your right…they were simply engineered.

It’s better that the whole thing goes to hell than to have the separate drinking fountains in the south they had then.

Cheap oil and gas allowed Detroit to build simply engineered big fat cars that looked like they were well made by laymen because the judged the cars by what they see and felt. All these 1960 Fords were full of rust holes by 1965.

A number of these delightful commercial productions are viewable on the Prelinger Archives. Thankyou for posting here for all to see, that may be unaware of the (less known) internet library.

It’s like commercials are getting shittier and more unoriginal everyday. So back then they had sweet ass themesongs for each kind of car, but now all we can think of is using some 10 year old overplayed shit you still hear on the radio all the damn time?

it was 2700lbs i think
without a doubt cars went backwards in the 70s and even 80s
