It’s essentially a mildly reworked version of the Toyota iq minicompact that is slated for production eventually in Europe but probably won’t make it to the States.

someone at Aston Martin should be fired. the aston martin brand is probably the coolest, most coveted right now….and they come up with this cheap POS??

do they have any self awareness of their brand? the CEO of Aston Martin is really ruining the long term value of the brand, maybe to try to boost his annual bonus.

This car is a waste of time, money, & tooling. Why?! There’s no point or purpose to it. It’s like the Chrysler TC by Maserati. All it did was flash the Maserati name on a Chrysler LeBaron.

I love the looks but if it just is the standard IQ underneath then I don’t want it.

Had Aston Martin done something about the engine, I would have LOVED the Cygnet. Do something about the engine. At least 200 BHP and then you will have customers….

@LawngCat lets hope this TOYOTA doesn’t have the acceleration problem plaguing the rest of the Toyota line up.

    Oops, I mean Aston.

I’d say thsi car is mainly for Astin owners who’d like to save a little money on fuel and have a small, city car, but don’t want to be seen driving an ordinary looking microcar.

Quite a price just for an image, but at least it’ll be fuel efficient and reliable as it’s a Toyota engine.

To Onthetable: if you followed the car industry earlier last automn, you would discover that Ferrari collaborated with Abarth to create the 695 Abarth tributo to Ferrari…

And who knows what Lamborghini will prepare us in the following years…

To Darwin: We are not talking Ford right now, we are talking Aston. If for some reason I cant afford one of the top range of Aston but the company releases a car I can afford, well, I will buy it, at least to enter that world of luxury and exclusivity that is created by Aston. And if you read a bit about the Cygnet, you will discover that one of the reason that Aston want to sell it first to AM owners is to avoid black market, because a lot of AM fans, with no much money, would like to have one.

well yeah, i basically knew all that, but dont you think they could have made an electric regular one?

EU regulation will penalise the manufacturer if the average CO2 emission from their line-up go over a certain point. So by selling a car that emits to little CO2 (iQ) that it doesn’t even need to pay tax to go on the road helps bring that average down. As to why Lambo and ferarri, I reckon is probably because their parent company (VW and Fiat) has already got city cars. whereas Aston doesn’t have a manufacturing parent.

so does ferrari and lamborghini have to make a city car too, now? why do they have too?

    WAT.

Reminds me of the Cooper concept that looks like a Cooper and a Doge Magnum had a wild Vegas weekend.

@prancinghorse25: Somehow I doubt it. If a Mustang is out of your price range, do you buy a Fiesta? If you can’t get the girl you want, do you try for her oddly squashed sister? Meh…

People here makes me laugh… no one like this car… but in 3, 4 years when these will be available on the second hand market, many of these youtubers who aint got the money to by themselves Vanquish, DBS or DB9, will try to count their pennies and wish if they are able to buy themselves a second hand Cygnet… Please come on…

What and the hell is this shit box? And I totally agree with @buttnut1080, they would just but the Toyota iQ or the Smart cars

I always thought this car was retarded. They shouldn’t be working on a little shit-box. They should be working on a new DB9 or DBS successor, just something cool. They should no nobody is gonna pay 50 grand for a toyota iQ with a nice interior

Its all because of the EU’s C02 regulations. I love aston but they could have designed there own car
